How do I change my surname?
You can change any part or your whole name including your surname by Deed Poll. Applying for a Deed Poll to change your surname is straightforward and you can do so by completing the Adult order form on our website
You can also change the surname of a child, this can easily be accomplished using the Child order form on the 'Order Now' page of our site. Parents, in particular mothers often change their children's surnames to match that of a new partner or, (following the breakdown of a relationship) to their own maiden name .
In some cases you may require two surnames for example John Jones Smith may wish to use both Jones and Smith as his new surnames, this can be accomplished in two ways, firstly he may choose to double-barrel his surname to form Jones-Smith, or secondly he may wish to just use Jones Smith as his surname without a hyphen.
If you choose to have two surnames without a hyphen then please enter your surnames in capital letters i.e. in the example above John Jones Smith would enter 'John Jones SMITH' as his current name and 'John JONES SMITH' as his new name.
We will then prepare the Deed in the same format so that there is a clear distinction between fore, middle and surnames.
