How do I change the name on my bank account?
When you change your name by Deed Poll you will more than likely have a bank account which will be in your old name. This guide explains how to contact your bank to request that they update their records to show your new name.
Each bank may have a slightly different procedure to follow but most will require that you visit your local branch in person, you will need to provide ID and your signed Deed Poll. Alternatively you may contact your bank's local branch in writing, if you choose to notify your bank in writing then you may wish to use our free covering letter template.
