The UK Deed Poll Office

How do I change the name on my local authority details?

When changing your name by Deed Poll it is important that you make your local authority aware of your new name. You must do this for both your Council Tax account and your entry in the Electoral Register (if applicable).

Please see below for further details:

Council Tax Account:

You should contact your local Council Tax office in writing and enclose your signed Deed Poll with a covering letter that clearly shows your Council Tax reference number, your name and address details.

You should contact the Electoral Registration Office of your local council in writing and enclose your signed Deed Poll with a covering letter that clearly shows your name and address details.
