What is a statutory declaration?
Just like a Deed Poll a statutory declaration is a form of documentary evidence that can be used to change your name. However, it must be witnessed by a Solicitor and therefore it is a far less straightforward, cost effective or popular option when compared with a Deed Poll.
We can prepare a statutory declaration for you in the same way that we can prepare a change of name Deed but having it witnessed by a Solicitor will cost from £10 upwards which is the reason why 99.9% of our clients and people in general choose to change their name by Deed Poll instead.
You should also note that both a statutory declaration and a change of name Deed are both equally valid forms of name change 'documentary evidence' within the UK.
