The UK Deed Poll Office

What is a statutory declaration?

Just like a Deed Poll, a statutory declaration is a form of documentary evidence that can be used to change your name. However, it must be witnessed by a solicitor and therefore it is a far less straightforward, cost effective or popular when compared with a Deed Poll.

We can prepare a statutory declaration for you in the same way that we can prepare a Deed Poll, but having it witnessed by a solicitor will cost from £5 upwards.

You should also note that both a statutory declaration and a change of name Deed are both equally valid forms of name change 'documentary evidence' within the UK.
